The NBA has tallied the votes and they are now getting rid of the Atlanta Hawks.
"There are some teams that you keep around just because you want to give them a chance, but the Hawks are past pity. We made the decision after Head Coach's Mike Woodson's mom asked every team to write the Hawks an apology note for beating them so bad, and for the teams that lost an apology note for throwing the game," David stern said earlier this week.
However the Hawks are not going to be gone forever, or even a year for that matter.
"We thought that we should give them a learning curve, kind of like a D league, so we decided to move them down to the WNBA," head coach Woodson said.
The first time the team was informed the players were kind of hurt because they got moved down before the Devil Rays did. The city of Tampa retorted but then you'd leave us with the Buccaneers and the players began to understand. At least the city of Atlanta had the Braves to hold onto. The Hawks old stadium is actually going to be filled with Braves division championship banners and one world series pennant.
"Its going to a good year for us. We think we can do really do it this go around. Win the championship, ha, no I mean having a winning season, " Joe Johnson said.
If there was ever a year for us to have a winning season it would be this one. We had our sights on the finals until my wife reminded me of Rebecca Lobo and Lisa Leslie. Have you seen her lips?" said Lorenzen Wright.
The rookies all blew a sigh of relief when they got the news because they knew they would be humiliated in the NBA, and even if they didn't make the finals in the WNBA who watched those games anyways. The news actually didn't upset any of the Hawks, but players from around the league.
"I scored 81 points against a bunch of guys, put me in the WNBA and I could score 1000. Kobe Bryant said. That’s all a man could ask for, scoring on a chick against her will, I mean I've already done it once, but it wasn‘t on camera. Imagine 1000 times on national T.V. Do I think I could win the championship, are you kidding me, no I don't have Shaq," Bryant went on to say.
"I didn't have much of a chance because I was white but now I might make a comeback, you know any league that takes women has to take white people. Maybe I'll make my own WNBA, White National Basketball Association, basically the NHL with no ice, sticks, or pucks, ok just the white people part." Former Houston Rockets Matt Maloney said.
The team is having to make some adjustments, like the different size ball, women, and the thought of winning games.
"Seeing W's in the left column will be an adjustment, I mean I saw them when I played for the suns, but If I had stayed on their team then I'd never have the opportunity to be overpaid and play in the WNBA," Johnson said
"The only difference is going to be our crowd attendance, we'll have a lot more fans," said Woodson.
Maybe the hawks move isn't going to be so bad after all, Atlanta needs one team to make it past the first round, and two teams not to win it all.
